Read Your Lyrics and Indulge Like Chocolate

How do you get your audience absorbed in your song? I've watch so many performers throughout my college career. I've written so many critiques about how they are connecting with their audience. The number one thing on my mind with each one of them is that they truly do not absorb the feeling song. You know what is helpful now is that there is a lot of background material and analyzation of lyrics on the computer. As I was going though my early years of college, the internet was small and unknown to me. I had to go on foot to the library to research the song. That is what you have to do sometimes, to get the background of the song. It's just like poetry in your English Lit class. same thing.

If you do your homework, researching all the areas of the song. you will deliver it with ease, interpreting the right emotion. Personalize it with the audience. Talk to them and deliver that feeling to them. Look at a few straight in the eye. Walk from the left to the right. Use hand movements. Just singining the in microphone will not be affective to your performance. It is simply your connection with the audience.

  1. Well, a song lyric is very close to a poem so to get the emotion correct, you need to understand what you're singing about. Good tip!
